Escalating demands are being placed on employers, and property owner, to ensure optimum enviromental consitions whithin their building. The transmission of respiratory infections in idoor enviroments represents a major public health concern for which engineering alternatives are limited.

Evidence for the dissemination of respiratory diseases inside buildings, and especially by ventilation systems, is well known. Scotmas' Hysan anti-viral products are powerful enough to combat the threat from airborne pathogens.

Ponds, lakes & decorative features
Scotmas technology will help keep ponds and water features free from unsightly, and dangerous algae and bacteria. Our treatments are used for water hygiene, agricultural and aquaculture applications.

Water Treatment applications include:
Drinking water (pre-treatment) - Stored water - Lakes and ponds - Decorative water features - Reservoirs - Sewage treatment - Wastewater treatment

Agriculture applications include:
Irrigation lines – livestock drinking water – lagoons – slurry tanks

Aquaculture applications:
Algae control - bacterial control

There are two approaches that can be taken, preventative treatment or reactive treatment. Prevention is always better than cure. In situations where algae control is required it is always better to take preventative measure and reduced the available nutrients in the water thereby removing the food source algae requires to proliferate.

Biological treatments - preventative treatment
BK Pond is a specifically developed range of biological bacteria that produce enzymes designed to work as a two-stage process

Stage one digests the source of the food required for the continued existence of blanket weed and other algae.

Stage two attacks the bonds in the algae, which further improves the performance of the product.
BK Pond is applied to a medium that allows controlled release over a period of up to 3-months to ensure continuous clarity, and balances the water to provide natural, healthy environments.

It can be used in aquariums, ponds, lakes, settlement tanks, lagoons and other areas of standing water; and it can also be used in some small watercourses. Neither BK Pond, or its’ medium, are detrimental to fish and other aquatic fauna, or to normal rooted flora.

Its is ideal for ornamental water areas, as well as industrial and agricultural aquatic areas, to achieve clean and clear water, free of many types of duckweed and blanketweed, algae and deposits from dead flora.

Chemical treatments – reactive treatment
AC Blue is a low pH algaecide and bactericide containing 5% copper – unlike other copper based products it is self-dispersing and remains in suspension until it is consumed by demand. The active ingredient is a biologically active form of copper ion held in a unique carrier known as a hydrotrophe.

Copper is a well-known and accepted algaecide and its effectiveness is based on the principle that organic contaminants will die soon after contact with elemental copper ion. The copper ion attacks the algae membrane to inhibit growth and interferes with the photosynthesis process resulting in starvation of the algae. Copper also causes deactivation of the microorganisms through interference with the metabolic pathways.

AC Blue is self-dispersing and quickly becomes evenly distributed throughout the water area; it will remain in suspension indefinitely and will be biologically active until consumed by demand. There is no need for agitation or expensive equipment to treat ponds or tanks when using AC Blue.

Other copper products rapidly sink to the bottom of the pond or tank causing uneven treatment, which may accelerate problems rather than cure them; much of the suspended algae remain untreated and excess copper at the bottom of the pond creates further problems within the ecosystem.

There are a few chelated copper products on the market that remain in suspension for a short while, but these have chemical bonds which often interfere with biological activity.

These bonds are designed to breakdown quickly, after which the copper recrystallizes and sinks to the bottom of the pond. Untreated copper will very quickly combine with calcium in water and will as a result become biologically inactive.

The unique nature of the AC Blue carrier is that it will prevent combination with calcium whilst allowing the copper to remain biologically active.

The hydrotrophe does not have to breakdown and can remain in place to ensure that AC Blue stays in suspension. Only AC Blue can maintain the biologically active copper ion in solution and achieve even distribution in the pond.
