Description

 

Scotmas now offers the latest solution in biotechnology and good environmental practice– the BK Pillow.

 

BK Pillows are placed directly in oil separators, storage tanks and bunds where they will absorb spilled oil and subsequently digest it – releasing harmless CO2 and water. BK Pillows are an economic and flexible alternative to skimmers and other engineered solutions.

 

BK Pillows are specially treated to give oil-attracting properties by using a hydrophobic (water repelling) fibre. These fibres are specially treated with BK Microbes that will begin to digest the oil on contact

 

BK Pillows are economical to use, and can remove the need for expensive separators and engineered solutions to the problem of oil contamination.

 

Applications

 

BK Pillows are suitable for use in all interceptors receiving a continuous run-off of oily water. BK Pillows may also be used to absorb occasional spillages.

Forecourt and Car Park Interceptors
Industrial Interceptors
Sumps, Bilges and Oil Traps
Tank Bunds
Oily Water Drains

 

After use, each BK Pillow can be easily disposed of as dry waste. Most hydrocarbons absorbed will be digested by the impregnated microbes.

Easy to Use

 

•Place BK Pillows on the surface of the layer of oil to be treated and tie in-place
•Each tube will initially absorb up to 14 times its weight in oil (9 litres of oil equivalent) and then digest this oil at a rate of up to 2kgs per week, thus allowing further oil to be absorbed.
•BK Pillows will remain active for approximately six to eight months, depending on contamination levels
•BK Pillows are lightweight and easy to handle

 

For Best Results…

 

•When using BK Pillows in separators it is best to first clean the separator and then put two pillows into the second chamber and one into the third chamber.
•Prevent contamination from occurring by using BK Hydrocarbon products around your site to remove contamination at source
