Designed for demanding applications in the food and allied industries, Hysol represents an effective alternative to harsh chlorine-based products.Hysol products are used in a variety of applications, from disinfection, through to combined detergent-sanitiser, boot baths and pipe cleaning applications.Hysol is easily prepared and, requires no special equipment to use.Hysol is 100% biodegradable and does not produce fumes or toxic by-products. The active ingredient of Hysol is effective at very low dose rates.Hysol is effective against a variety of organisms, and has been demonstrated to remain effective in soiled conditions, making Hysol ideal for the toughest disinfection jobs.Hysol products are supplied in a soluble powder or tablet form, and are made up by adding to water as required.

Cleaning and disinfection are two separate functions which are often confused.
Cleaning is the removal of the  soiling, it may make the surface appear “clean” but  it is seldom designed to remove the surface biofilms or destroy pathogens. Cleaning must be combined with or followed by a thorough disinfection. Detergents may remove soiling but will seldom destroy the pathogens. Bacteria suspended in the dirty water are often simply moved from one spot to another where it is left to repopulate and form new biofilm attachments.
Disinfection is the destruction of pathogens, bacteria, spores, virus, protozoa and fungi. Many of these organisms will live within the soiling and under the biofilm which will be attached to the hard surfaces. For disinfection to be successful it should follow a thorough cleaning.
Different forms of soiling requires different detergents – breaking down and loosing fats and greases from different sources will often require different products. Cleaning out milk and brewery pipe lines requires detergent formulations which are different from those used in laundries.
As not all detergents have similar properties so not all disinfectants are identical. Disinfectants function in different ways. Disinfectants which are effective against certain bacteria may not be effective against other bacteria or other forms of pathogens.
Designing cleaning and disinfection programmes requires the formulation of products which tackle all of the problems and not just a limited selection.
Outlined in this booklet are some guideline to various aspects of disinfection which may assist you to understand the principles that underpin a good disinfection programme.

Hysol – a new generation of hygiene.

Hysol is a peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide based powerful disinfectant that can be even more effective when formulated with a combination of biodegradable detergents which loosen the surface soil and allow the disinfectant to gain easier access to the bacteria and surface biofilm.

Peracetic acid is known to be one of the most potent oxidising agents available but its use has been limited by the problems associated with handling a product which can cause burns and serious corrosion.

Hysol is presented in an inert powder or tablet form which is safe and easy to handle and releases the peracetic acid in ready to use concentrations only when the powder or tablet is dissolved in water.

These products are ideal for use in making up batch quantities of powerful disinfecting solutions. The tablets will dissolve in a few minutes in large tanks or small buckets and in doing so will release the biocide agent which is based on peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

Specialist formulations are available for dairy and brewery pipe lines, tanks and factory floors.
