Plants and in particular young seedlings will only have a chance to establish themselves if they are protected from the numerous pathogens which threaten them. By using a combination of Biox and Bio-T excellent control of pathogens including Rhizoctonia, Pythium Phytophthora Verticillium, Sclerotinia and Fusarium can be achieved.

Trico-R

•Trico-R – Trichoderma based product for control of numerous fungal soil pathogens on almost all crops

•The product consists of a mixture of minute spores of the fungus, Trichoderma harzianum, and an inert carrier.

•The beneficial properties of the fungus have been known since 1934, but because of the intervening chemical pesticide boom, it is only recently that interest has rekindled. Trichoderma harzianum is a cosmopolitan fungus, commonly found in all soils and on dead organic matter on which it feeds.

•The strain used in Trico-R was selected from about a 1000 isolates over a period of 12 years.

•Trichoderma forms various compounds which are inhibitory to the growth of crop pathogens

•Trichoderma conidia germinate and colonize the soil immediately surrounding plant roots, living off the nutrients that all plants exude from their roots. As it is fast growing it is capable of out-competing and displacing crop pathogens

Trico-R can also enhance/stimulate plant growth

This is a result of …

•Protection of developing roots from naturally occurring sub-lethal pathogens.
•Improved root efficiency resulting from mycorrhizal-like associations
•Production of several natural plant hormones such as gibberellins and cytokinins, enhancing the growth of plants and even the rooting of cuttings. Seed germination is often also improved
