Using Chlorine Dioxide

Chlorine dioxide has been recognized as a powerful water treatment biocide for a number of years. It has been proven to kill a vast range of microorganisms, including Legionella pneumophila, and to strip out the biofilm from water systems. In addition it is effective against the amoebae which can harbour legionella, and which are not eradicated by other water treatment methods. Unfortunately, suitable systems for dosing the chlorine dioxide into the water have tended to be large, complex and expensive. These systems have been intended to eradicate legionella from the entire water system. Recent evidence suggests that attempting to completely clear legionella from large complex water systems with single-point dosing of chlorine dioxide is ineffective
