Scotmas: Process Water

Eliminate slime, algae & odours

Water Treatment System

ADOX is a stable aqueous solution of CIO2 and offers industry great flexibility of use: low level inclusion rates and selective action to eliminate slime, algae & odours from many processes. Long residual activity to protect industrial fluids such as Cutting Oils and Textile Lubricants and Adhesives. The opportunity to easily and safely produce specifically design potent  biocides for the treatment of process water and effluent.
A safe biodegradable product and is a Dept. of the Environment approved additive for water.

ADOX for cutting oils

Cutting oils and coolants can be kept free from obnoxious odours, slime and bacterial spoilage by proper treatment with ADOX.

General Application Guidelines:

To Fresh Clean Batch

Add 1 oz per 5 gallons of oil or coolant. Repeat each 2 weeks or at the first indication of souring.

To Extend use of a Spoiled Batch

If heavy contamination has already taken place, the life of a system can often be extended by double dosage (2 oz per 5 gallons) and daily addition of the same amount until odour and putrefaction diminish.
Preparatory to week end shut down periods, add an extra 1/2 oz ADOX per 5 gallons for each day of anticipated shutdown.

For High Volume, Continuous Process Systems

Consult us for technical service and recommended dose levels. Experience has shown that 10 gallons of ADOX per million gallons can effectively decontaminate spoiled systems.

Laboratory tests on contaminated field sample of cutting fluid treated with 1/2 oz/gallon showed the following bacterial count reduction.

Untreated Oil Time After Treatment Treated Oil

1,100,000 10 mins later 60,000
2,500,000 17 hours later 0
2,900,000 65 hours later 0
3,000,000 113 hours later 400

Given sufficient time the bacteria in the oil were killed with the addition of ADOX. Both solutions remained at room temperature. The untreated oil increased in bacteria count and the treated oil remained free of bacteria growth.
Applications and use dilution rates

Adhesives

ADOX is used in emulsion polymerised adhesive applications. Specific application is as a microbial inhibitor (Anti bacterial agent).

Specific end use Applications

•    Presure sensitive adhesives
•    Paper adhesives
•    Adhesive bandages
•    Commercial Adhesive Systems

•    Polyacrylate
•    Starch adhesive systems

•    Polyolefin
•    Polystyrene
•    Polyurethane

Dilutions:

Recommended dilutions range from 10-250 ppm of ADOX in the polymer emulsions. Some polymer emulsions may require higher concentrations of ADOX due to the demand requirements for Chlorine Dioxide.

For Polymer Solutions: Add 40 ppm of ADOX in solution on emulsion to eliminate microbial growth on storage of paint, textiles etc.
