Despite our humble origins, the company has grown significantly and now boasts a global network of sales offices, joint ventures, and production centres, in addition to our Scottish Head Office.

Our team comprises a diverse range of skilled professionals, including chemists, microbiologists, medical doctors, craftsmen, engineers, and technical consultants.

Alistair Cameron – CEO

Alistair, a microbiology graduate from the University of Edinburgh, is a Director and founding member of the business. He has extensive experience in IT networking, sensor technology and electronics.

Alistair completed the “Entrepreneurial Development Program” at MIT-Sloan School of Management and is a Board member of South of Scotland Enterprise.

Ewan Cameron – Agriculture Director

As Agriculture Director, Ewan has over 35 years’ experience in livestock production and food processing, working across many regions of the world including Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Ewan has an intricate knowledge of Chlorine Dioxide application techniques, combined with a sympathetic understanding of agriculture production methods.

A highly qualified expert in the industry, Ewan has a Masters in Avian Science, a HND in Poultry Production, and a HNC in Poultry Husbandry, and can advise on bespoke biosecurity programmes to improve livestock wellbeing, productivity and subsequent profits for your business.

Nicola Cameron stands out as a dynamic and forward-thinking leader in the business world and is currently the Commercial Director of Scotmas.

Nicola Cameron – Commercial Director

Nicola, a graduate of biological sciences from the University of Edinburgh, joined Scotmas in 2010 after pursuing a career in marketing. She has been instrumental in driving the Consumer Products business, achieving over 20% growth and net profit annually.

Nicola has completed the Scale Up Scotland programme for entrepreneurial growth company leaders and is a member of “Principally Women,” a cohort of female growth company leaders in Scotland.

Russell Hazelhurst – CFO

Russell is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants and has a wealth of experience in providing a disciplined and proactive approach to financial management to a variety of businesses.

After joining Scotmas in late 2021, Russell has led the implementation of new ERP and internal financial management tools to assist the company with achieving its growth objectives.

John Anderson – Chairman

An influential specialist in entrepreneurship and growth, John brings close to 30 years of personal and professional experience working with the leaders of growth companies to his roles as hands-on Non-Executive Chair and Director in growing businesses and as Programme Director on the ScaleUp Institute endorsed Growth Advantage Programme and Help to Grow: Management at Strathclyde Business School.

His strength lies in working closely with a founder or next generation owner to help them maintain their role as purposeful leader and to help them build a leadership team that is focused on strategy execution and operational excellence – all with the support of an Enlightened Board©. John is a Founding GlobalScot and a member of Chapter Zero, the Directors’ Climate Forum, which is helping business leaders consider climate change in board decision-making.

In 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Strathclyde for leadership and commitment to entrepreneurship in Scotland.

Derek Cameron – Founder

Derek Cameron first applied Chlorine Dioxide chemistry in 1980 when remediating poorly performing agricultural and food processing units in West Africa. Building on this experience, Derek established Scotmas in 1999 to apply the same Chlorine Dioxide chemistry to a variety of markets around the world.

Derek led the business from its inception, first as Managing Director and more recently as Chairman, and his vision, drive and determination have been fundamental to its continued growth and success.  Derek sold the business and retired in March 2020.
